TANIELA PETELO
about projects

Taniela is an active participant in the Tongan visual and performing arts community, who regularly collaborates with other creatives. Beyond his own practice, it's project-based work that motivates Taniela - whether that be through art or music.
Showcasing young local artists' talents is also a driving force for the artist. Through mentoring, he helps future musicians and artists discover their own creative potential, as his way of contributing back to the community.
He is part of several creative arts community groups including ICON (Tonga) where he embraces the collective's motto: Creativity with a Purpose, by helping young people to develop their own creative practice through music and art.
The artist exhibits in Tonga with the support of On The Spot who showcase both Taniela and Tevita's work in annual group shows including Shifting Sands and the Mahina Festival.
A passionate community member, Taniela has also advocated for specialist exhibition spaces in Tonga (read about this here).
